'I' Before 'E' Except After 'C': Cyma Favorites

Cyma Favorites
I recently found out from a checkup that I have an astronomical cholesterol reading. I am therefore at high risk for heart disease and diabetes. And I'm only 34. This, despite my relatively active lifestyle. It must be the huge amounts of red meat- beef and lamb- that we consume in Wellington. I am the only person in our gang of nine that needs to take Lipitor 20 to lower my cholesterol levels. I really AM getting old!

I decided to tweak my eating habits in order to prevent developing the dreaded diseases. First off: less red meat- less burgers and steak, more fish and chicken sans skin. Less cheese and sweet treats, more veggies and fruit.

About a month ago, my brother and his girl took me to a greek/mediterranean restaurant that quickly became a favorite of mine.
Here are two of my best picks:
This is CYMA's Tonno Salata. It's seared tuna and anchovies on a bed of lettuce, tomatoes, olives, feta cheese, caramelized onions, potato wedges, and some boiled eggs with a sort of honey-mustard dressing (I forgot what Cyma calls it). I am not worried about my cholesterol when I eat this, since even the base of the dressing is extra virgin olive oil.

A close second favorite: the Rocca Salata -another salad with a sweet-ish dressing. My family's favorite (they like this best, but I still like the Tonno Salata better...!)

Arugula, candied walnuts, sundried tomatoes, and freshly shaved parmesan cheese with Cyma's delicious traditional Greek Vinaigrette. (We are still figuring out what's inside their greek vinaigrette. We thought it was honey and tried to recreate the flavors, but we could not recreate the consistency and richness of the dressing.)

Both salads are nutritious, healthy, and filling. Best of all, they're not as pricey as you think. I ordered the "to share" size for takeaway, and four of us shared one salad for lunch, and the other for dinner. Prices of the "To share" portions (good for 3-4 people) was generally P340-P380.
